gettin' around
Ohsobusy!

It's been a busy, busy few days.
(An aside, relating to my current activity: I hate, hate, hate Windows AD password restrictions. Seriously. How is a 25 character, mixed-case, alpha-numeric, special character having password NOT good enough?! From now on: obscure passages from well-heeled essays by French philosophers...)
Sarah's birthday was on Friday, and we did our very best to live it up this weekend, and I like to think that we succeeded. Between a nice dinner on Friday and a small gathering of good drinking buddies on Saturday, good times were had by many and all. Next year, I will do better though. Much better.
The both of us had commented at various times this weekend that it seems like we're always cleaning. Every day. So now, we're struggling to come up with a system that will at least keep our weekends as free of housework as is possible..it'll just mean busy weeknights.
In other news, I'm getting close to finishing the long-promised logos for other folks, and then I'll be able to devote my energies to working on our wedding site. Coupling all of that with my ongoing G.T.D. effort, and I'm pretty booked solid.
Remember the Milk has helped a great deal in micro-managing a lot of my tasks, but here are some over-arcing ones that I'm dealing with daily until they're gone (or at least in a more manageable/just-add-water state):
1) Put our DVD collection onto the network for streaming to the Xbox 360 (2-4GB/disc, depending on quality requirements...bigger HDDs may be in order soon).
2) Put our entire CD collection into one place on the network, all encoded at the same bitrate.
3) Utilize tools to better manage our finances individually and collectively.
4) Organize our payment schedules.
5) Organize our address books.
6) Use DeliciousLibrary to track all of our books/movies/games
7) Use MacGourmet to begin compiling our myriad of recipes into one place, include photographs of meals for inclusion in a project to be named later
8) Reorg my office. I sacrificed my closet shelving for the sake of getting the garage to a more manageable state, but now my office is a God-awful wreck.
9) Finish the damned garage.
My problem so far is my attention span. I try to do too much at one time, only to get side-tracked and start working on something else. I really ought to purchase and read Getting Things Done, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Thing is, some of my tasks are things that can be run in the background, concurrent with my working on my hands-on projects. Example: I can run HandBrake in the background and have it queued up with a couple dozen episodes of 30Rock or whatever, and in the foreground, I can be working on consolidating my address book.
YARGHHHHH!!!
And a final congratulations to McMike for getting on with his new company, which will afford him the opportunity to work from home and spend more time with his lovely family. Also, he can have lunch with Brad now since he isn't all the way in midtown any more.
(Note: Midtown doesn't exist yet, but I have determined that the area around 635/75 should be called Midtown as it really is pretty Central for Dallas proper)
